Click less translation?

Oct 11, 2010 at 10:14 AM

Hi,

Thanks a lot for this tool. My company headquarters is German speaking and we are just few in a french speaking area.

For the moment I made it work by downloading and installing "Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime" before the Outlook add-in itself.

To translate I need to:

- select text

- drag & drop to the box on the lower part of the message

- click "translate"

would be possible to make either all automatic or have just the "translate" button which would copy the text (and maybe even expand the box) and translate it?

Cheers,

First of all thank you for reporting this!

I'm done a new release where i added "Microsoft Office 2010 Primary Interop Assemblies" as pre requirement in package, so if you dont have you get to download it automatically. I must say i haven't tried it myself but i pretty sure it will work.

Automatic translation this is possible for sure.

Is this the scenario you would like to have - See below.

Scenario 1

1. Open up message
2. Click Translate and all text in mail is being translated.

Or

Scenario 2

1. Open up message
2. It automatically translate whole message always?

Hi,

Thanks for your email and the change to automatically download the
pre-requirements.

I would suggest to have the Scenario 1, that would translate
automatically all message after clicking the "Translate" button (so it
would be a one-click translation).

In my opinion this option is better as:
- less internet traffic
- users are not always connected to internet, so scenario 2 would fail
in various situations.
- not all messages need translation

Let me know when you have time to make the changes and I can test the
new release and let you know any problem that arises.

cheers,
Miguel Anjo

Hi,

Just tried. It works very well, thanks! I would suggest to make that the default action of the "Translate button", what do you think? It would avoid the need of going to the File menu.

cheers!

Maybe - If textbox is emtpy then take whole mail.... sounds good and right way to go.

I will think about it - Sounds like a good idea however.. Easy to implement.
